Data Sharing Policy

Data Sharing Policy

Introduction
The Axis Journal of Scientific Innovations (AJSI) is a strong proponent of open science and believes that sharing research data is fundamental to accelerating scientific progress. This policy establishes clear expectations for data sharing to enhance the transparency, reproducibility, and utility of the research we publish.

Purpose
The primary purpose of this policy is to encourage authors to make the data underlying their findings publicly available. This practice facilitates the validation of results, enables the reuse of data for novel inquiries and meta-analyses, and fosters collaborative innovation across the global scientific community.

Scope
This policy applies to all manuscript types submitted to AJSI, with a particular emphasis on original research articles.

Data Availability Statement
Authors are required to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript, typically within the methods section or as a separate note before the references. This statement must clearly detail:

  • Whether the data are publicly available.

  • The name of the repository, the persistent identifier (e.g., DOI, accession number), and a direct link to the dataset(s).

  • Any specific conditions or procedures for accessing the data if they are under embargo or available upon request.

  • A justified reason if the data cannot be shared due to ethical, legal, or commercial restrictions.

Public Repositories
Authors are strongly encouraged to deposit their data in a recognized, field-specific public repository that guarantees long-term preservation and assigns persistent identifiers. Examples include Zenodo, Figshare, Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), or institutional repositories.

Exceptions and Restrictions
AJSI acknowledges that legitimate constraints may prevent full data sharing, such as privacy concerns for human subject data, proprietary information, or national security regulations. In such cases, the Data Availability Statement must provide a clear and specific justification for the restriction.

Ethical and Legal Compliance
Authors are solely responsible for ensuring that data sharing complies with all applicable ethical and legal standards. This includes, where relevant, obtaining informed consent for data sharing, adhering to data protection laws (e.g., GDPR), and thoroughly de-identifying data to protect participant confidentiality.

Data Citation
To give proper credit and enable tracking of data reuse, datasets that have been deposited in a repository must be formally cited in the reference list of the manuscript, just like any other publication. The citation should include the authors, year, dataset title, repository, and the persistent identifier (DOI).

Compliance and Enforcement
Compliance with this data sharing policy is a mandatory condition for the publication of a manuscript in AJSI. The editorial team will verify the Data Availability Statement during the peer-review process. Non-compliance or inability to provide a justified exception may lead to the rejection of the manuscript.

Support for Authors
AJSI is committed to supporting our authors. Those who have questions about selecting a repository, drafting a Data Availability Statement, or navigating ethical concerns are encouraged to contact the editorial office for guidance at any stage of the submission process.

Bibliography
This policy is informed by leading community standards, including the principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the FAIR Data Principles, which advocate for data to be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
